This Master's program aims to incorporate a sound evidence base in teaching to deliver effective practical applications in surgery and promote the skills required to independently conduct high calibre research.
Students will learn how to design clinical research studies, organise the study team, apply for funding, collect, manage and analyse data, report their results and ensure that high ethical standards are maintained. Additionally, the course allows students further surgical experience by undertaking advanced surgical skills procedures in the workshop environment under supervision. Optional additional elective units are available and are geared to each student's interests.
The course consists of mentored research, resulting in a research thesis of between 30,000 and 50,000 words (48 points), and coursework consisting of three core units (18 points) and one elective unit (6 points).
(a) All Core units; Three coursework units to a total of 18 points and Thesis Research, either Full-time or Part-time, to a total value of 48 points.
