The Centre for Orthopaedic Research was established as an independent unit in 2007.
It is under the leadership of Winthrop Professor Ming Hao Zheng.

The work has been supported by consecutive and concurrent National Health and Medical Research Council grants, along with industry support and collaborations. The group has for many years had a close alliance with the Perth Bone and Tissue Bank.
The group provides coursework teaching to undergraduate science students in the units PATH2201 and PATH3311.
A particular emphasis is research supervision over the full range of levels and timeframes of:
The group has been integral in the establishment of double-badged PhD programs with Chinese universities, and also in establishing exchange programs for international scholars and students.
